McCleary-Marleau - Moen Sports and Recreation Foundation 2008 Activity Review
The year 2008 our ninth of operation, was a very busy and exciting year for the foundation. With the support of our generous sponsors and the 180 participants in the golf tournament the 2008 McCleary/Marleau/Moen Charity Golf Tournament was another great success. In the nine years the foundation has been operating, we have fundraised and given back to the youth in Southwest Saskatchewan over $150,000 dollars. Our emphasis has been to develop and bring programs to young people that will give them the opportunity to experience a sport new to them or to expand their skills in a particular activity. Here is a review of the activities of the foundation for 2008:
During the last year the McCleary/Marleau/Moen foundation has supported the following sport and recreation activities in Southwest Saskatchewan: Outdoor hockey, skateboard camp, Indians baseball camp, family night golf at Elmwood golf course, and the City of Swift Current boys and girls on the move programs. These programs received close to $5000.00 in support from the foundation.
The foundation supported three-team application during the 2008 calendar year for a total of $4000.00.
The support of individual athletes in golf, female hockey, male hockey, soccer, lacrosse, and baseball was provided to the total of over $4000.00.
We are proud to be able to report to you our sponsors that in the last year we have supported programs, teams and individual athletes in Swift Current and Southwest Saskatchewan.
We continue to support young individual athletes and teams in pursuit of excellence in their sports. The Foundation has ventured into these programs with the hope that they can be continued in future years and increase the number of young people who have the opportunity to be involved in sports.
